Palm Beach County Fire Rescue recently celebrated International Fire/EMS Safety and Health Week
During the week of June 18, 2012 thru June 23, 2012 the department held activities highlighting the importance of proper nutrition and physical fitness. Teams of three firefighters from each battalion competed over three days for the title of "Most Fit Battalion", Chef Gary Swaye from the Palm Beach County School District provided cooking instructions at a local firehouse and ten lucky firefighters received cooking lessons from the Chefs at local Palm Beach Gardens restaurant Seasons 52. The participating employees along with their respective times for the competion are listed below. There even was a friendly competition between the Chiefs of the department and the rest of the participants. Throughout the week the teams formulated a game plan on how to be faster than the team before them. The event was very successful and everyone is already looking forward to next year. Thank you to all the participants, Chief Schimt, and especially Brooke and Lauren for their time in organizing a great event. Congratulations to Battalion Four on winning the trophy for "Most Fit Battalion"!
